The intolerant bigotry exhibited by the mainstream media first reared its ugly head just a few short months ago, serving notice to most Christians (whether Baptist, Evangelical, Catholic etc) that their religious beliefs are under attack, primarily for political reason. Last January, Phil Robertson stood his ground amid growing backlash for having the nerve to quote the bible in a sting-interview conducted by the New York Times.
As result of the interview, AETV then fired Phil Robertson before crawling back on their knees to retract, realizing just how many Christians, of all different religions, live in America and are no longer willing to simply absorb their vile bigotry, and open hatred of Christianity.
Yes, it is true, hatred is often a two way street, but only one group is apt to recognize the “log in their own eye”, while pointing to the thorn in another’s. Very seldom will the mainstream media report hate crimes against Christians, even when so prevalent across the world. From the Coptic persecution in Egypt, to the Christian slaughter in Syria, the ugly head of Anti-Christianity in the modern world is reminiscent of the Roman Empire’s 300 year War against Christians.

Make no mistake, the same bigotry is happening in America.
From the Founder of Mozilla, Brendan Eich, who was forced to resign for his biblical belief in marriage, to the CEO of Chik-Fil-A — S. Truett Cathy — who also resigned after pressure mounted for his supporting the biblical definition of marriage, the intolerance of the “tolerant left” in America was even more highlighted. Further spiting the First Amendment, CAIR protested Rutgers for “allowing” Condoleeza Rice to speak at their commencement ceremony. Brandies students then protested against Ayaan Hirsi Ali: a human rights activists courageous enough to speak out against radical Islam’s War on Christianity.
In recent weeks, David and Jason Benham from North Carolina are going through the same tribulation. The two Born Again Christians were recently fired from HGTV for their religious belief. They were to begin a new show on HGVT called, “Flip it Forward“, but once the radical left-wing got wind that the two brothers were Christian, an organized effort was made on HGTV to dismiss the show.
Going one step further, the intolerance of the tolerant-left was realized when they protested not only HGTV but also Sun Trust, a company that the Benhams signed contract with, promoting their real estate company. As news broke about the situation, Sun Trust was flooded with mail, phone calls, faxes and emails by a concerned community.
Christians are starting to show their outrage over this open, and systemic bigotry.
Sun Trust then recanted their dissolved partnership with the Benhams, and HGTV would be wise to do the same. My wife used to love watching their programs, but she is steadfast in boycotting the channel until the Benhams are treated just like everyone else: regardless of CREED.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission states:
“Religious discrimination involves treating a person (an applicant or employee) unfavorably because of his or her religious beliefs….
The law forbids discrimination when it comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, and any other term or condition of employment…
It is illegal to harass a person because of his or her religion.”
Some in the media love to confuse the issue, purporting that these are examples of limiting “free speech”, when in actuality these are examples of limiting one’s freedom of religion. In America, we are free to exercise our faith — to practice our faith unabridged by government — to not only talk the talk, but to walk the walk. To live as our Maker would have us, with respect for everyone’s right to life, liberty & pursuit of happiness.
You could imagine my surprise when opening Newsmax this morning to read, “Phil Robertson’s Sermon Doubles Down on ‘Anti-Gay’ Remarks”. The author of the post, Mullins, still has yet to grasp the notion that Robertson was not “remarking” about homosexuality. Instead, Phil is actually “quoting the bible”.
Mullins writes, “Robertson was defending ‘his prior detrimental statements‘ regarding homosexuality while taking on the media and claiming that those who cast him in a bad light didn’t know his initial ‘rant’ was based on scripture”.
Robertson’s “rant” is not based on scripture young Mullins, his so-called rant literally is scripture!
I Corinthians 6:9-10 “Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
One must wonder how much circulation was granted Newsmax from their many articles concerning Phil Robertson’s “rant” last November, that they are now seemingly backing away from? Is it so shocking to Mullins that Phil Robertson actually quote scripture during a sermon, especially on Easter?
For some, our faith is not so easily for sale.
One might conclude that it is Mullins himself that considers the word of God as “detrimental to homosexuals” or maybe just to the mainstream’s political sensibility. Most might say that God does not rant, He only shares truth, and those that cross Him only place themselves in great detriment. Regardless of the specific act, to sin is human. To learn from one’s sin and sin no more is humility. To handle sin in such a careless way is vanity. The forgiveness of sin is holiness, and is also how we be judged.
Not only is religious freedom protected by the first amendment, so is the right to free speech. With this in mind, Conservative Report gave as much moral support to the Robertson family as possible. And Conservative Report will continue to support the Benham brothers in the fight for religious freedom against HGTV.
For those who would sacrifice religious liberty for political expediency, most Conservatives will inform you, our vote will not be cast at the cost of our religious freedom, our faith in God’s word and His commandments.
Perhaps one of the best ideas yet is to allow the many individual religions to reign over their own definition of marriage, rather than to allow sold-out politicians led by a godless government any jurisdiction over religious rites. Holy Matrimony is a religious rite, not a civil right. Those best equipped to conduct marriages are religious organizations, not government organizations, less we feel it incumbent upon ourselves to allow for a government religion. You can listen to more about this “freedom agenda” on Conservative Report Radio, posted at the end of this article.
Reverend TD Jakes reminds us, “God is with you in battle”, reassuring the Robertson and Benhams: you are not alone.
Below is Phil Robertson’s sermon given on Easter Sunday that has the media mob in such a frenzy.
The Benham brothers message, “Our country, with our rights to freedom of religion and free speech, is fractured”.
